The Great Bear Rainforest is a temperate rain forest on the Pacific coast of British Columbia, Canada comprising 12,000 square miles. It is home to a wide variety of land mammals, marine mammals, birds and sea life. Most notably, it is the only place on Earth where the Kermode subspecies of the Black Bear, also known as the Spirit Bear, can be found. In September - October of 2022, we sailed this area for 8 days in search of the Spirit Bear. While the Black Bears shown are Kermode bears, their white relatives eluded us. Oh well - next time ...
